Yankees Prospects: Week 3 minor league review

and Spencer Jones continued their hot starts to the season, and the 2024 draft class continues their rise up the teams prospect rankings.
Welcome to the third installment of the Yankees minor-league report for the 2025 season! Three of the four affiliates lost the majority of their games this past week, but that didnt stop most of the teams top prospects from putting up big performances.
Spencer Jones and George Lombard Jr.
continued their hot starts to the season, and the 2024 draft class continued its ascension.

Charlotte Knights (White Sox)The RailRiders started off hot with a 9-1 victory on Tuesday behind 6.1 strong innings of one-run ball from Erick Leal.
Jorbit Vivas kept up his hot start with three hits, and Everson Pereira recorded the big blow with a three-run homer in the fifth inning.
The rest of the week wasnt as kind however, and Scranton lost four of their next five games against the Durham Bulls.
Pereira homered again on Wednesday, but the RailRiders lost a close game 4-3.
They lost another game 7-1 on Thursday as starter Jake Woodford was blitzed for five runs (just two earned) over 2.2 innings.
Scranton pulled out a 5-0 victory on Friday on the backs of pitching tandem Allan Winans (3 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 7 K) and Sean Boyle (5 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 3 BB, 5 K).
Vivas recorded three more hits in the game, and T.J.
Rumfield hit his fourth home run of the year.
But the RailRiders were held without a single hit in a 4-0 shutout on Saturday, as Rays starter Joe Boyle dominated the Triple-A lineup immediately after being optioned back to the level.
Ismael Munguia hit his first home run of the year on Sunday, but the week wrapped up with another 4-3 defeat.

Hartford Yard Goats (Rockies)Just like Scranton, the Somerset Patriots dropped four of their six games last week after an early Tuesday victory.
They fell to 6-9 on the young season.
Somerset started with a 6-1 victory on the back of 2021 draft pick Brendan Beck, who threw six no-hit innings and recorded five strikeouts.
Dylan Jasso and Tyler Hardman homered in the win.
The Patriots lost again on Thursday by a score of 6-4, but the main story of the game was top prospect Spencer Jones, who homered in his first two at-bats and recorded three hits and three RBI in the game.
Cam Schlittler had a tough outing, giving up six runs (though just one earned) across 4.1 innings.
Somerset dominated Fridays game in a 12-1 victory, with Jasso, Rafael Flores, Jake Gatewood, Antonio Gomez, and Christopher Familia each recording two hits apiece.
The week ended with two losses over the weekend, as the Patriots fell 2-1 on Saturday and 9-3 on Sunday.
Trent Sellers pitched well in the latter game, striking out seven over 5.2 scoreless innings, but Ryan Anderson got crushed in relief during a nine-run inning for Altoona.
Spencer Jones recorded his sixth homer of the season in the loss.
Its been a tough start to the season for Somerset, but theyll look to recover at home next week against the Hartford Yard Goats.

Hudson Valley won 4-2 on Tuesday behind six innings from Carlos Lagrange, who struck out nine in the best start of his professional career to date.
George Lombard Jr.
hit his first home run of the year in a 2-for-2 game with two walks and three RBI.
Ben Hess recorded his second dominant outing in as many starts (5 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 9 K), but the bullpen struggled and the final score was 10-7.
2024 draft pick Brendan Jones homered for the first time this year in the win, and homered again on Friday during a 5-1 victory.
Hudson Valley won behind a stellar outing from Josh Grosz (5.1 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 1 BB, 9 K) and a 2-RBI single from Lombard.
2024 second-round pick Bryce Cunningham was electric on Saturday in an 8-0 victory, twirling seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts.
The week wrapped up with a 3-1 victory on Easter Sunday, led by a home run from Josh Moylan.
Its been a fantastic start to 2025 for the Renegades, with Lombard, Hess, and Cunningham headlining a new crop of top prospects in the Yankees system.

Dunedin Blue JaysIt was another middling week for the Low-A Tarpons as they dropped four of six in St.
Lucie and continue to hover around .500 on the season.
The week began with a 17-6 trouncing, as starter Andrew Landry got pounded for ten runs in just over an inning of work.
Catching prospect Engelth Urena hit his first home run of the year in what was otherwise a miserable game for the Tarpons.
Wednesdays game wasnt much better, as they lost 5-1 in a weak offensive showing.
Tampa pulled out a 6-1 victory on Thursday behind a strong outing from starter Griffin Herring (6 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 4 BB, 9 K) and another home run from Urena.
Parks Harber homered as well, and Roderick Arias doubled for the second time in as many days.
Friday saw a high-scoring affair as Tampas bats unloaded on St.
Lucies pitching in a 14-9 victory.
Edgleen Perez, Harber, and Dillon Lewis recorded two hits each and Roderick Arias dealt the big blow with a grand slam.
The Tarpons lost both games over the weekend, 4-3 and 8-2.
Urena picked up his third homer of the week (and season) in Saturdays game, and Clayton Beeter made his season debut on Sunday in 1.1 innings of relief.
