Nico Iamaleava wanted to make $4 million at Tennessee.

He was already slated to make $2.4 million, according to college football insider Ross Dellenger .

But the Volunteers didnt want to give Iamaleava the spontaneous raise, and instead the two sides parted ways.

Iamaleava is now the UCLA Bruins starting QB, and the college football world is curious as to just how much UCLA had to give Iamaleava to land him at the end of this weird saga.

Dellenger reported new details on the matter on Monday night.

Iamaleavas UCLA compensation was not expected to match his UT pay, Dellenger wrote on X.

Iamaleava departed Tennessee at a tricky time as a quarterback.

Most prominent teams already had their starting QB, so none of them would be shelling out a bunch of NIL cash for a backup.

UCLA was an option because it needs to turn its program around.

The Bruins went just 5-7 overall last season, including 3-6 in their first Big Ten campaign.

Iamaleava led Tennessee to the College Football Playoff as a sophomore.

Hes not necessarily a top-tier college quarterback, but if he continues to improve as might be expected, he should be very good for the Bruins.

On3 reported before Iamaleava committed that he might have to settle for about $1 million.

Dellengers report doesnt indicate exactly how much, but its safe to assume it was at least that.

Still, though, it looks like Iamaleava and his camp overplayed their hand.
