Former UNC basketball transfer to test the transfer portal again

Former four-star North Carolina recruit Puff Johnson is going to test the transfer portal again for the second time in two years.

Johnson started his career as a Tar Heel out of Hillcrest Prep in Phoenix, Arizona.

He was the No.

15-ranked small forward in the class with a 95 overall rating, according to 247Sports.

In the first three years of his collegiate career at North Carolina, he played a total of 75 games, starting just two games in his junior season.

He averaged 1.1 points per game in 14 games in his redshirt freshman season.

He then bounced up to 3.1 points and 2.0 rebounds per game in 24 games in the following season.

His last year at UNC, coming off the bench, he averaged 4.1 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.After the 2022-2023 season, Johnson decided that it was time for a change of scenery and hit the transfer portal out of Chapel Hill.

Johnson was the No.

26-ranked small forward in that transfer class with a 247Sports rating of 90, a four-star transfer.

He started 12 games and appeared in 29 total games.

He averaged 7.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per game while shooting 42.2-percent from the floor.

However, his senior year, last season, was his best of his collegiate career.

He averaged 10.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game while shooting a career-best 54.3-percent from the field.Johnson will have one year of eligibility left.
