It's common sense in baseball that no team wants to give a good hitter extra outs.

And there's nothing more deflating to a pitcher than when bad defense leads to runs.Shota Imanaga got to experience that in the worst way on Tuesday.Despite three walks, Imanaga pitched a gem in the Cubs' 10-inning win over the Padres.

But he had to take a no decision after the unluckiest sequence in Manny Machado's fifth-inning at-bat.

Imanaga got Machado to pop up foul in playable territory not once ...

but twice.

And both of those times, the Cubs committed errors.

Had the Cubs lost, it would have been one of the tougher losses to get over.

But the Cubs did rally to tie in the sixth and Nico Hoerner's 10th-inning triple put Chicago ahead for the 2-1 win. This article originally appeared on For The Win: Manny Machados home run came after the Cubs embarrassingly botched two foul balls in the same at-bat.
