There are always going to be surprises in the first round of the NFL draft.

No matter how much tape watching and research draft analysts do, it's impossible to predict exactly how NFL teams evaluate their own rosters and draft prospects.

The San Francisco 49ers would love to see a couple of surprises ahead of them in the first round to get a top-end player to slip to them at No.

11 overall.

A mock draft from Pro Football Focus shows two ways the 49ers could get that help in the first round.

PFF's first surprise pick is from the Las Vegas Raiders at No.

6 overall.

At that spot they select University of Texas cornerback Jahdae Barron.

Then at No.

9 a third quarterback enters the mix with University of Mississippi QB Jaxson Dart landing with the New Orleans Saints.

Dart came off the board because University of Colorado signal caller Shedeur Sanders went to the New York Giants at No.

3.

The fallout from the three QBs going off the board and Barron sneaking into the top 10 left University of Missouri offensive tackle Armand Membou on the board for the 49ers.

LSU OT Will Campbell is also available at that spot.

PFF has the 49ers taking Membou, which makes sense for them because he could either be a long-term, high-level starter at right tackle, or he could eventually flip over to the left side to replace Trent Williams.

The ability to eventually replace Williams would seem to be a necessity for any OT the 49ers pick in the first round.

However, it's not a slam dunk they like any of the first round OTs.

They should still be rooting for this kind of outcome in the top 10, though.

Trading down may be the best option for the 49ers and in the scenario laid out by PFF, Membou, Campbell and University of Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan are all players who could motivate a team to move up in the first round.

It may not be a likely outcome, but this PFF mock illustrates the type of top 10 that would put the 49ers in a very good spot once they're on the clock. This article originally appeared on Niners Wire: 2025 NFL mock draft: 49ers get OL help thanks to Raiders and Saints.
