The Luka trade just keeps getting worse and worse for the Mavericks.

Dallas traded its franchise star and now continues to pay an immense price for the unthinkable decision.

ESPN's Tim MacMahon said that the Doncic trade is a decision that probably will cost the franchise nine figures over the next several years, as the Mavs are projected to lose dozens of millions in revenue this season due to dwindling crowds, plummeting merchandise sales and sponsors severing ties with the franchise in the wake of the trade.

So many fans canceled season tickets in the days after the trade that the Mavs attempted to generate some goodwill by offering limited refunds.

Since parting ways with their franchise guard, Dallas' front office has faced intense outrage but the estimated impact on their wallets might be the worst part of all.

Although the Mavs are still in a position to make a playoff push, that hasn't been anywhere near enough to ease the tension.

The eyes of the NBA will be on Dallas on Wednesday as Luka and the Lakers come to town.

Its likely to be an extraordinarily intense game, with most Mavs fans likely still to cheer on their former star.

Tickets for Doncics return to Dallas on Wednesday are currently around $450 plus fees.
