(FOX 5/KUSI) Since 2018, the Inclusive Sports Foundation has provided children with disabilities an opportunity to play sports with college athletes, and it visited the campus of the University of San Diego for the first time this April. Its amazing, I love trying new things.

Meeting new people, said Gavin Benitez, a Clairemont High School student.

Its always great trying something youre not used to.Its super cool to learn the programs that they have here, added Evan De Vos, another student at Clairemont High School.

I actually get to play with them, not just like sitting down like learning about it, but actually get to play with them and like giving other people the opportunity to play with them too.Nearly 200 students stretching across 4 different high schools blended with current Torero student athletes.

The goal is to inspire healthier habits through physical activity.I love sports, and my whole life revolves around sports, so just to be able to give that as a little gift to somebody who doesnt necessarily get to enjoy them like I do is special, said Ava Ranson, a Torero Womens Basketball Senior.

I just love making connections with the kids and just like putting a smile on their face and like knowing that Im making a positive impact on them...

really cool.Part of our experience here at USD as a Division 1 Athletic Department and our athletes are more than just athletes, added Jonathan Curran, a USD Assistant Academic Advisor.

Their role in the community is to be the next leader and to inspire the next generation of athletes that includes people, so its a great opportunity for them to get into the community and leave a lasting thing at USD, Curran added. While Torero athletes gain a deeper appreciation for their sport and all the teaching involved, the foundation has already impacted more than 3,000 students with disabilities across the country in the last seven years..
