Syracuse names SEC transfer as starting QB very early in the process | Sporting News

Syracuse football coach Fran Brown didn't waste any time naming his 2025 starting quarterback.

Brown made the announcement on Monday.

LSU transfer Rickie Collins will be the QB1 for the Orange.

"He seems to be moving into (being) the leader of our football team," Brown told reporters .

"I'm liking what I'm seeing.

I think the players are behind him, everyone's behind him.

So, it seems like he's going to be our quarterback." MORE: Will Richard, Todd Golden's first recruit, won the national title for Gators Collins threw seven total college passes at LSU (he completed all seven).

He also rushed seven times for the Tigers.

Coming out of high school, Collins was a four-star recruit, but he sat behind multiple strong QBs at LSU.

At Syracuse, Collins held off Michael Johnson Jr., Jakhari Williams and Luke Carney for the job.

Collins will be replacing Kyle McCord, who is heading to the NFL.
