Bayern Munich s Klassiker rival Borussia Dortmund has formed a partnership with the joint Super Bowl Rekordmeister , the Pittsburgh Steelers of the NFL.

The two teams are both famous for wearing the black and yellow, but the connections go deeper than just the colors that they share.

Both Pittsburgh and Dortmund have deep histories rooted in industry.

Both teams want to use the partnership to drive future success in international collaboration.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Pittsburgh Steelers (@steelers) The collaboration between the two will be multi-faceted.

Players and former players have each attended games at each others stadiums.

A Steelers staff member has already been to a business summit that BVB hosted and the Steelers will reciprocate with an invite to a business meeting later this Spring.

The Steelers will also host a flag football game in Dortmund that will include a Steeler player.

Miles Killebrew, two-time Pro Bowler for the Steelers had this to say about his time in Dortmund at match I was blown away by my experience at Dortmund.

From the minute we arrived at Signal Iduna Park, it was clear to me how special an organization BVB is.

From the Yellow Wall, to the atmosphere and the fans, it was a memorable day for me, and I look forward to returning someday.

It will be exciting to see the relationship between the Steelers and BVB grow in the future.

Dan Rooney, Director of Business Development and Strategy for the Steelers, is looking forward to what this partnership will bring.

The partnership with Borussia Dortmund, the first-of-its-kind for the Steelers organization, builds off the deep connections both of our teams have with the communities we represent, as well as our shared values, rooted in our industrial pasts, of hard work, determination and a winning spirit.

We look forward to whats next as we support each others success in reaching fans in new markets and raising the profiles of the cities we call home.

Lastly, Marc Lingenhoff, the Managing Director for BVB Americas, Inc., shared his thoughts as well Borussia Dortmund and the Pittsburgh Steelers share more than colors - we share the commitment to bring sports and culture together through the power of our brands.

We are rooted in history, and bonded by tradition.

When exploring various expansion opportunities for BVB in the United States, we saw the Steelers as the ideal partner with tremendous success on the field, as well as a legacy of excellence off the field.

Known for its resilience and community-first approach, the Steelers are a cornerstone of Pittsburghs identity - and the same can be said for BVB in our Dortmund community as well.

We are proud and excited to bring this synergistic partnership to life on the global stage, with the fan at the center of everything we do.

BFW Commentary As a fan of Bayern and the Steelers, this hurt me for a minute, but even I have to admit it makes so much sense.

Both teams are trying to grow in the others markets.

Plus the colors, the passionate fanbases, the industry that drives the communities, and all the other factors just make sense.

I have been saying all day, I hate it, but it makes sense.
