NYY vs. SF: Carlos Rodon vs. Logan Webb

The Yankees take on the San Francisco Giants in the rubber game of a three-game series in the Bronx this afternoon at 1:35pm EST.
Carlos Rodon will take the mound against his former team, while the Giants turn to their ace, Logan Webb. The teams have split the first two games during a rainy weekend in the Bronx.
The Giants obliterated the soon-to-be-ILd Marcus Stroman on Friday night, as he gave up five earned runs and threw almost 50 pitches without even making it out of the first inning.
It was too daunting an obstacle for the Yankees to overcome in what ended up being a rain-shortened six inning game which the Giants won 9-1.Will Warren was much more effective on Saturday afternoon, throwing five strong innings with a 2-run homer by Wilmer Flores serving as the only blemish.
The Yankees rode their high-powered offense to victory, with Ben Rice, Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, and Jasson Dominguez recording two hits apiece.
Bellinger hit an RBI triple in the first inning, Dominguez laced a two-run single in a five-run fifth, and Rice capped off the scoring with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth, his fourth of the season.
The Yankees won Saturdays matchup by a score of 8-4.Heres a little more on the Rodon vs.
Webb pitching matchup, courtesy of my colleague Michaels series preview:Year three in Pinstripes for Carlos Rodon has gotten off to a somewhat shaky start.
After a strong performance on Opening Day (1 ER in 5.1 IP), the veteran has since posted rocky-at-best outings for the Yanks.
The good aspects of his game have been there, obviously with that solid debut against Milwaukee, and hes also struck out 20 batters in his 17.1 innings of work so far this season.
The bad has also been front and center at times, as the lefty has allowed a homer in each of his three starts, and has walked nine between his two most recent outings.
Hell hope to get some of that fluctuation settled down against his former club on Sunday. For the finale, the Yankees will be facing a pitcher who quietly has a very reasonable claim as one of the sports best three or four starters Logan Webb.
His claim is only growing stronger so far in 2025, too, as hes managing a sub-2 ERA and FIP in his three 2025 starts.
Hell be coming off some of his finest work, during which he went seven scoreless against the Reds, amassing 10 strikeouts along the way.
Webb has been a four-win pitcher by fWAR every season since 2021, and hasnt posted a FIP higher than 3.16 in that span.
The Bombers will have their hands full. The Yankees will deploy a similar lineup on Sunday, with J.C.
Escarra taking over behind the plate for Austin Wells, who will have the afternoon off.
To echo Michaels point, they'll have their work cut out for them against Webb, whod been one of baseballs most consistent pitchers over the last few years and whos off to a great start with a 1.89 ERA in the young season.
