Kraken Defeat Blues 4-3 in the Shootout

On Saturday, April 12, the Seattle Kraken hosted the St.

Louis Blues at Climate Pledge Arena.

Although the Blues already won the first two games, the Kraken did not let them take this easily.

Seattle took the victory 4-3 in the shootout.

Game Recap The first period was full of low-event hockey, only three shots on net for the Blues and five for the Kraken.

Despite a power play eight minutes into the period for Seattle, they couldnt find a scoring chance.

The first came to an end scoreless.

Three minutes into the second period, Jordan Eberle picked up the puck off a save made by Philipp Grubauer.

He passed the puck to Jaden Schwartz who skated up along the boards with the biscuit.

Schwartz skated towards the center of the ice and took a shot, which Jordan Binnington blocked.

Schwartz picked up the rebound and with a second shot, scored the first goal of the night.

Each team took a penalty in the second, but neither capitalized on the extra-man advantage.

The second came to an end with a score of 1-0.

28 seconds into the third period, Cam Fowler took a puck to the face.

He immediately went down the tunnel, but returned late in the third.

30 seconds later, the Blues scored a revenge goal.

Nick Leddy took a shot by the blue line.

Nathan Walker tried to tip the puck into the net, but Grubauer made the save.

Radek Faksa picked up the rebound and scored the first goal for the Blues.

Six minutes into the third, Tye Kartye gained control of the puck in the neutral zone due to a missed pass by the Blues.

He skated with the puck into the Krakens offensive zone.

He took the shot but Binnington made the save.

Michael Eyssimont picked up the rebound and scored to give Seattle the lead.

The lead did not last long.

After a missed shot by Eberle, the Blues picked up the puck and skated it into their own offensive zone.

With a pass from Robert Thomas, Colton Parayko scored to tie the game once more.

Just 13 seconds later, Nick Leddy took a shot from the blue line.

The puck bounced off the crossbar and into the net, giving the Blues the lead.

Two minutes later, Jamie Oleksiak took a shot on net.

The puck deflected off of Shane Wrights skate and into the back of the net.

The officials immediately reviewed the goal to see if there was a kicking motion which sent the puck in.

After review, it was deemed a good goal.

No other goals were scored in this period, and the game went into overtime.

Seattle controlled the five minutes of overtime, taking the only two shots on net.

It was not enough, and the game headed to a shootout to determine the winner.

Eeli Tolvanen was up first for Seattle.

He faked out Binnington and scored the first goal in the shootout.

Jake Neighbours was up next, and with a wrist shot, he too scored.

Eberle went second, and his shot was blocked.

Thomas goal was seemingly blocked, but it went behind the back of Grubauer and passed the line, making it a good goal.

Kaapo Kakko went third and scored to give the Kraken a chance.

Brayden Schenns shot bounced off the goal post.

Matty Beniers went in the fourth round, and despite trying to fake out Binnington, he couldnt score.

Zack Bolducs shot bounced off Grubauers pad.

Wright was also denied.

Pavel Buchnevichs shot was also denied by Grubauer.

Jared McCann and Jordan Kyrous shots both went wide.

Chandler Stephenson took the shot in front of Binnington and scored.

Jimmy Snuggerud tried to keep the Blues chances alive but was denied.

The Kraken take the victory in the shootout.

Final Games Ahead The Kraken will play their final game of the season on Tuesday, April 15 when they host the Los Angeles Kings.

The Blues will also play their final game of the season on Tuesday when they host the Utah Hockey Club.
