BIG3’s Boston Ball Hogs announce pre-draft roster

Thompson The Boston Ball Hogs have announced the pre-draft roster for their inaugural season.
The Ball Hogs play in the BIG3 , a professional 3-on-3 basketball league co-founded by entertainment mogul Ice Cube in 2017.
BIG3 teams have five roster spots.
Boston has three of its five spots filled.
The other two will be filled during the draft on May 15th in Las Vegas.
Kevin Murphy has been announced as team captain.
The 6-foot-6 inch shooting guard was a second-round pick in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz.
He played overseas for more than a decade.
He was Finals MVP of the Bahrain League in 2019.
He is also a Croatian League champion.
He was an All-NBA D-League selection in 2014.
Murphy, 35, was the BIG3 Rookie of the Year in 2021 and league MVP in 2022.
The co-captains will be Deshawn Stephens and Scotty Hopson.
Stevens is a 6-foot-8, 235-pound forward who has a 7-foot-3 wingspan, according to the BIG3 website .
His game is built around inside scoring, rebounding, and shot-blocking.
He has played overseas in France, Japan, and Italy, among other countries.
Hopson, a 6-foot-7 forward, most recently played with the Maine Celtics , with whom he played 10 games in 2024.
Hopson was a consensus five-star recruit during his senior year of high-school in 2008.
He was the No.
7 ranked player in the country according to the 247Sports Composite, ahead of several future pros including Kemba Walker, Al-Farouq Aminu, and Iman Shumpert.
He was a first-team All-SEC selection at Tennessee and carved out a lengthy career playing overseas and in the G-League.
The Ball Hogs are coached by former Celtic Gary Payton.
The season will begin on June 14.
