Three Maple Leafs Top Prospects to Watch in a Thrilling Postseason

With the OHL playoffs kicking into gear, the Toronto Maple Leafs have three exciting prospects to keep an eye on: Easton Cowan, Ben Danford, and Sam McCue.
While there NHL Playoffs are still about a month away from commencing, the OHL Playoffs are going to get into full swing shortly, and the Maple Leafs have some pretty big names vying for glory.
Three of their prospects, including two of their top ones, are heading into some very crucial and tough battles to see who comes out on top, and who may have some bragging rights come training camp this summer.
It looks like Easton Cowan and the London Knights will be set to take on Owen Sound in the first round.
Ben Danford and the Oshawa Generals battle the Brampton Battalion, and finally, the often forgotten prospect Sam McCue; who lit up the league this season, helping the Flint Firebirds take on the ever dangerous Kitchener Rangers.
Toronto's Prospects May Find Themselves Maple Leafs Sooner Than Later All three players had anywhere from good to spectacular seasons, and all three will no doubt get a look come training camp, and are potentially only a year or two from debuting with the big squad.
Let's take a look at Cowan first, as he is unquestionably the Maple Leafs' top prospect in their system, and with the seasons he's had, it's not hard to see why.
This year, building off a historic point-streak, Cowan registered 69 points in 46 games (29G, 40A) though he did miss some time with an injury.
Over his past two seasons, he has an astounding 165 points in 100 games (63G, 102A) and may very well be the Maple Leafs' next playmaking superstar if he keeps up the pace.
Danford , the most recent draft pick of the Maple Leafs, is definitely more a defensive mind than offensive, though he is able to chip in when necessary.
He too went through some injuries this season, but still managed to pull out a 25 point season with Oshawa (5G, 20A) in 61 games.
While he may not be expected to make the team out of camp, Danford already had a look earlier this year during offseason camp and with an impressive showing, could end up making a short debut before being demoted to work on his game a bit more.
McCue is the interesting one of the trio.
He was drafted 216th overall by Toronto last year, and has already come up through the ranks to have a stellar offensive season.
In 55 games split with Owen Sound and Flint, McCue has 55 points (36G, 19A) and adding 77 PIM.
He's a tough-nosed, gritty power forward who has a lot of offensive upside; almost similar to another Maple Leafs star.
While no doubt all three of these players will be doing their best to claw and scratch their way to a championship, one thing remains almost certain: Regardless of how they feel about each other now, they're going to be best of friends in a very short time.
