Dodgers make big Shohei Ohtani pitching announcement ahead of Opening Day | Sporting News

Shohei Ohtani will leadoff as the Dodgers' designated hitter this Thursday on MLB's leaguewide Opening Day.
But soon enough, the two-way sensation will be back on the mound.
Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts provided a positive update to that effect on Monday night.
Roberts told reporters that Ohtani will throw a bullpen session on Saturday.
It'll be the first time Ohtani throws off a mound since Feb.
25.

The Dodgers have been extremely careful with Ohtani after Tommy John surgery kept him off the mound in 2024, his first year with his new club.
Not pitching didn't stop Ohtani from a 50-50 homers and steals season that helped lead the Dodgers to a World Series.
