Jayden Daniels strutted his stuff in the Commanders' 38-33 upset over the Bengals on "Monday Night Football," captivating audiences with a historic passing and running display that should linger in the record books for some time.

The Washington QB entered the contest with question marks, most of which revolved around his lack of a passing TD prior to Monday's duel.

He swiftly set those doubts aside with a showcase for the ages against fellow LSU alum and Heisman winner Joe Burrow.

Daniels was likely to have plenty of motivation to succeed in Monday night's clash.

The bright lights and matchup with Burrow, one of football's biggest stars, were likely to get a rise out of the 23-year-old hurler.

Still, the biggest inspiration for Daniels' showcase may have come from an unlikely source: Bengals CB Cam Taylor-Britt, who appeared to belittle Daniels and his offensive coordinator, Kliff Kingsbury, prior to Monday's matchup.

Here's what you need to know.

SN's NFL HQ: Live NFL scores | Updated NFL standings | Full NFL schedule What did Cam Taylor-Britt say? Taylor-Britt was adamant that he wasn't concerned with Washington's offense heading into its clash with the Commanders on Monday night.

Speaking with reporters ahead of the contest, Taylor-Britt claimed that the offense helmed by Daniels and coached by Kingsbury was a "nice college offense" that requires very little out of their rookie hurler.

Cam Taylor-Britt: Kliff Kingsbury runs a nice college offense pic.twitter.com/E3U7MvplJq They dont make him do a lot, Taylor-Britt said on Thursday .

They keep it really simple for him.

Nice college offense, [Kliff] Kingsbury, the OC.

They move guys around here and there, but just keep it real simple for him.

I heard his pass percentage is very high, but hes only throwing short routes.

Some intermediate stuff, quick throws.

Whether Taylor-Britt's remarks were an inherent diss at Daniels or Kingsbury remains to be seen.

The Commanders offense has revolved around getting Daniels involved in the short and intermediate passing game, an element that has helped him keep his completion percentage up.

However, providing any team with bulletin board material often can end up going awry.

Washington appeared to take Taylor-Britt's words to heart, dropping a season-best offensive showing against Taylor-Britt and his fellow Cincinnati defenders.

Bengals Daniels starred during the Commanders' shock road victory against Cincinnati, completing 21-of-23 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns.

He added an additional 39 yards and a touchdown on the ground, for good measure.

Matched up against an uneven Bengals defense, Daniels came to life.

The check downs and short-gain competitions still were a regular part of Daniels' toolkit.

But so too was the big play; Daniels found the likes of Luke McCaffrey and Terry McLaurin with big plays.

They might have Taylor-Britt to blame.

Not all were happy about the outburst, namely Bengals head coach Zac Taylor.

Cincinnati's skipper denounced his starting corner for his remarks, claiming that they were not a reflection of his team's values.

Thats not what we do.

"We praise our own team, praise the other team, we don't need to take shots like that.

That team hasn't punted in two weeks.

They've scored on every single possession the last two weeks." Taylor-Britt, meanwhile, was adamant that he didn't mean any harm by his comments last week.

He also reiterated his belief that Kingsbury's offense was college-like.

"I can eat my words, most definitely.

We did take an L today, but as a team, it was sort of a college offense.

Very quick, quick throws.

[Daniels is] very athletic at extending plays.

That's how the game went, they stuck to their plan.".
