Retired NFL quarterback Brett Favre says he has Parkinson's disease WASHINGTON (AP) Retired NFL quarterback Brett Favre told a congressional committee Tuesday that he has been diagnosed with Parkinsons disease.

Favre made the announcement as part of his testimony about a welfare misspending scandal in Mississippi.

Favre does not face criminal charges, but he has repaid just over $1 million in speaking fees funded by a welfare program in the state.

He was also an investor a biotech company with ties to the case that said it was developing concussion drugs.

It is unclear if Favres disease is connected to his football career or head injuries.

(AP) San Francisco 49ers All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey has traveled to Germany to consult with a specialist about his Achilles tendinitis.

Coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that McCaffrey made the trip in hopes of resolving an issue that has bothered him since early in training camp and has forced him onto injured reserve to start the season.

McCaffrey got hurt early in training camp and missed four weeks of practice before returning to the field on a limited basis before the season opener Sept.

9 against the Jets.

He was unable to play in the opener and was placed on injured reserve the following week.
