Danielson, a Detroit native who attended Dearborn Divine Child High School, spent nine seasons as a quarterback with the Lions, starting 52 games from 1976-84.The 2025 season will be Danielsons 36th in television.

Charles Davis, who has been with CBS Sports since 2020, will take over for Danielson upon his retirement.I have had the greatest seat in the house for 36 years and have loved every minute of it, Danielson, 73, said in a release published by CBS Sports PR.

I have discussed the timing of this moment with CBS Sports leadership over the past few years and we felt it was important I remained with the team during our transition to the Big Ten.

As we enter our second full season of Big Ten football and my 20th at CBS Sports, the timing just feels right.I have so much respect for Charles Davis as both a person and an analyst.

He is going to shine in this role and fit so well with this team.

I have been blessed to work with incredible teammates throughout my career and I look forward to one more memorable season with Brad (Nessler), Jenny (Dell), Craig Silver, Steve Milton and the crew.With the Lions, Danielson completed 56.5% of his 1,684 attempts, totaling 11,885 passing yards (sixth in franchise history) and 69 touchdowns (sixth) with 71 interceptions.

The Lions went 23-28-1 in games started by Danielson, and the Browns went 5-3 with him from 1985-88.The 2025 season will be Danielsons 20th with CBS Sports..
