Reporter infers Deion Sanders responded to Nebraska’s Matt Rhule’s college football spring game take | Sporting News

Colorado head football coach Deion Sanders may have been speaking directly to Nebraskas Matt Rhule when addressing the sports shift from spring games played by most if not every program to it becoming rare.
Rhule had previously implied that hosting a spring game in 2024 led to an exodus of players from his Cornhuskers.
USA Todays Brent Schrotenboer referenced Rhule when setting up Sanders claim that Youre not gonna stop nobody from leaving your program by not having a spring game.
Unlike other college programs, Sanders also said he wants to keep playing a spring game, possibly even by staging it against another team.
Nebraska coach Matt Rhule is among those who have talked about canceling public spring games for various reasons, including because of concerns that it leads to tampering by other teams who might try to lure his players away after watching them in a spring showcase, Schrotenboer wrote.
Rhule shared the troll-worthy take back in February.
I dont know that yet but Ill be honest with you, I highly doubt it.
And I think its really fundamentally, I hate to say it like this, its really because last year we were one of the more televised spring games and I dealt with a lot of people offering our players a lot of opportunities after that.
So to go out and bring in a bunch of new players and showcase them for all the other schools to watch, that doesnt make a lot of sense to me.
The word tampering doesnt exist anymore.
Its just absolute free open common market and so I dont necessarily want to open up to the outside world.
I dont want these guys all able to watch our guys and say, Wow he looks like a pretty good player, lets go get him, Rhule said.
