As the Philadelphia 76ers try to rebuild after an injury-riddled season, Quentin Grimes has emerged as a bright spot.

After entering the season with legitimate championship expectations, the Philadelphia 76ers quickly had their season ruined.

Now boasting the fifth-worst record in the NBA, injuries have totally decimated the one-promising team to the point where a rebuild might be in order.

The 76ers have been urged to trade Paul George , who they signed just this season.

He has been unreliable and has clearly taken a step back, so his value on the open market, especially with a massive $211 million contract, wont make the front office thrilled to get a deal done, but it might be necessary.

On top of that, if the Sixers fall out of the top five draft picks, they will owe their selection to the Oklahoma City Thunder and wont even be able to land a top-end talent to add to their existing core.

Fortunately for Philadelphia, its not all doom and gloom, as trade-deadline pickup Quentin Grimes has been a bright spot for their season.

76ers urged to build with Grimes After 17 games with Grimes on the roster , the Sixers have only won three games, although he has been the best player on the floor in most games .

Averaging 21.4 points and 5.5 assists, he has hit 30 or more points five times.

Grimes will be an unrestricted free agent this summer and will have more than his fair share of suitors, but one former player thinks Philadelphia should do everything in its power to keep him in town.

Trade PG, you can get him [Grimes] right now for four-year $40 million, said Jeff Teague on his Club 520 podcast.

He the one.

A starting five of Tyrese Maxey, Quentin Grimes, Jared McCain, Guerschon Yabusele, and Joel Embiid is tough to argue against, and the scoring potential would just be through the roof.

This last month hes been arguably one of the best two guards in the league, declared Teague.

He been going crazy.

Come on bro, he been killing bro.

Just keep going, and get 50 [points].

Im a fan for real.

Grimes form will still prompt doubts Since entering the league in 2021, Grimes hasnt had the easiest go of things.

Drafted by the New York Knicks, he was buried on the depth chart behind Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett, and Jalen Brunson.

He spent most of last season on a putrid Detroit Pistons team before being traded to the Mavericks over the summer.

He was unable to consistently crack Jason Kidds rotations in Dallas and was t raded to the Sixers for Caleb Martin .

Now that hes been given real minutes, averaging 30 per game for the first time in his career, hes made the most of it.

Of course, hes the best player on a bad team, like Dejounte Murray on the San Antonio Spurs, Andre Drummond on the Detroit Pistons, and DeAaron Fox on the Sacramento Kings have all been.

He cant be the centerpiece on a winning team, but at this point, neither can George, and Grimes comes a lot cheaper.

If the Sixers are able to make a deal to send George elsewhere and are able to save enough money to re-sign Grimes, there is a chance that Teague will be right and Grimes will cement himself on a winning team next season.

For now, it could just be a Linsanity run.
