The Iowa Hawkeyes have underperformed this season, and the program's poor play has led fans to call for Iowa to move on from Fran McCaffery.

McCaffery has been at the helm since 2010 and has achieved some impressive accomplishments.

At one point, the head coach led the Hawkeyes to seven NCAA Tournaments in ten years.

Some have even suggested that McCaffery may retire after this season.

A similar situation is unfolding in Bloomington with Mike Woodson, and it seems to be happening in Iowa City as well.

However, Hawkeye fans haven't managed to push McCaffery out just yet.

Recent reports indicate that McCaffery has made it clear he has no intention of stepping down as Iowa's head coach.

On Thursday, the Hawkeyes hosted Michigan State and were in control for much of the game before allowing the Spartans to pull away.

The win marked Tom Izzo's 11th conference title .

After the game, Izzo was asked about Iowa fans wanting McCaffery to be dismissed, and he voiced his support for the coach.

Watch what you wish for, Izzo stated.

Ive seen this happen at a couple of football programs close to us.

People better appreciate (him).

Its easy to throw stones.

Izzo clearly believes that there are few coaches like McCaffery in the game, but he also raised another valid point.

Hes got a lot left in the tank, I promise you that, Izzo continued.

Its just the way it is.

They dont have the resources here.

Im going to say what I think.

This aint what Fran thinks.

Everybody has different amounts of resources.

Theyre not on the middle or high end, Izzo added.

It is well-known that to build a competitive team in college sports, significant resources are often required.

Programs like Indiana, Michigan State, and others have the financial backing to stay competitive, and without the same resources, its easy for programs like Iowa to fall behind..
