Eagles sign former NFC rival running back

The Philadelphia Eagles already have the best running back in football, and they will now have someone who has proven to be one of the top backups in the league next season.
Former Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon has agreed to a one-year deal with the Eagles, according to NFL Media's Mike Garafolo.

He never took on a featured back role after Green Bay drafted him in the second round in 2020, but the former Boston College star has been a reliable second option out of the backfield.
Before missing last season with a neck injury, the 26-year-old Dillon rushed for 613 yards and two touchdowns in 15 games in 2023.
He averaged 3.4 yards per carry, which was down from his career average of 4.1.
Dillon has been cleared to play in 2025, according to Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz.

Still just 26, Dillon has 2,428 career rushing yards and 18 total TDs.

The Eagles signed Saquon Barkley to a record-breaking contract extension this offseason, but they lost some running back depth when Kenneth Gainwell agreed to a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday.
Barkley had a whopping 345 carries last season.
The Eagles almost certainly want to get that number down a bit in 2025, and Dillon should be able to help with that.
