Zaccharie Risacher has had a low-key rookie season and his recent progress is not getting enough attention.

Number one pick in the 2024 NBA Draft , Zaccharie Risacher has had an attention-free start to his career, with 55th pick Bronny James garnering more media attention.

While there are reasons for that, there are also reasons not to expect too much from Zaccharie Risacher right away.

He is just 19-years-old, and was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks with a view to years of development, rather than as somebody capable of making an immediate impact on the league.

That is exactly what has happened.

Risacher has been inconsistent, but he is also flashing his undoubted raw talent and giving the Hawks franchise reason to feel positive that their decision to take the patient approach will prove the right move in the long run.

Risacher gets backing from French colleague Along with Victor Wembanyama, Guerschon Yabusele is one of the high profile French players in the NBA, joined by Zaccharie Risacher.

Similar to Risacher, Yabusele is in his first year in the league, the difference is he is 29-years-old, 10 years the rookies senior, with years of experience playing around the world, most recently in Spain.

Yabusele has demonstrated his ability despite being in an underwhelming Philadelphia 76ers team, and after going up against Risacher, he likes what he sees.

Risacher scored 22 points in the Atlanta Hawks 132-123 victory over the Sixers, with Yabusele only scoring 7.

Speaking to French reporter Theo Quintard , Yabusele gave his backing to Risacher, expressing his confidence that he would come through a tricky early start.

Yabusele said: He works a lot.

I wasnt worried about him, hes already shown his talent.

It evolves from year to year.

Hes going to work this summer and hell be even better at the start of the next season.

Hes on the rise and its really great for him.

Zaccharie Risacher numbers Zaccharie Risacher is averaging 14.6 points per game over the past five, which included 27 points against the Grizzlies.

But there was also a low of just 6 against the Pacers.

This is still a rise on his season average of 11.2 points per game, and when you look at his first five games of the season, he was averaging just 9.2 ppg.

So there is clear progress being made by Risacher, just likely too late to make a real claim for the Rookie of the Year award, where Stephon Castle of the San Antonio Spurs is the current favorite.

It is worth noting that there is opportunity for Risacher to make an impression when it matters.

The Hawks 31-34 record is currently good enough for seventh place in the Eastern Conference , an an opportunity to get to the playoffs.
