Blues forward Pavel Buchnevich misses practice after blocking shot in preseason opener

Blues forward Pavel Buchnevich missed practice on Sunday morning, one night after blocking a shot during a 2-1 preseason loss in Dallas.
Buchnevich took a Matt Dumba shot off his left foot in the final minute of the second period on Saturday night but finished the game with eight more shifts in the third period.
While he was not on the ice Sunday, Buchnevich was at Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights and was not wearing a protective boot.
Blues coach Drew Bannister did not appear concerned about Buchnevichs health.
I just know hes not skating this morning, but he had no issue finishing the game, Bannister said.
Buchnevich logged 18:24 of ice time on Saturday night, the most among Blues forwards, and finished with one shot on goal and two shot attempts.
He set up Zack Bolduc for a one-timer chance in the slot with a no-look backhand pass from behind the Dallas net in the first period, one of St.
Louis best early chances against Casey DeSmith.
In the faceoff circle, Buchnevich was 6 for 17, going 4 for 8 against Justin Hryckowian, 1 for 4 against Mavrik Bourque, 0 for 4 against Colin Blackwell and 1 for 1 against Cameron Hughes.
Buchnevich was the only Blues player not on the ice Sunday.
Oskar Sundqvist (knee), Adam Jiricek (knee) and Antoine Dorion (upper body) were all present during practice, even if they were not full participants.
Dvorsky makes preseason debut Blues prospect Dalibor Dvorsky played in his first NHL exhibition game on Sunday night against the Utah Hockey Club in Des Moines, Iowa.
He centered the top line with Brayden Schenn on his left wing and Mathias Laferriere on his right wing.
Dvorsky also worked with the top power-play unit during the teams morning skate on Sunday, in his familiar one-timer spot in the right circle.
I think the biggest thing for them is not to think too much and just go out and play, Bannister said.
Hes going to get a lot of opportunity, whether its on the power play (or not), and we want to see him utilize his skill and work to his attributes.
Dvorsky was originally the No.
10 pick in last years draft and has an outside chance at making the NHL roster this fall as a 19-year-old.
After Sundays preseason game, 40 different players will have played in an exhibition game this training camp.
Notable players that have yet to see game action include Robert Thomas, Jordan Kyrou, Brandon Saad, Alexandre Texier, Nick Leddy, Justin Faulk, Ryan Suter and Matthew Kessel.
The Blues have five more preseason games remaining, with the next one on Wednesday night in Columbus.
Hello, old friend When the Blues played Utah on Sunday night, they saw a familiar face across the way: defenseman Robert Bortuzzo.
Bortuzzo spent parts of 10 seasons with the Blues after he was acquired from Pittsburgh in a trade and was the teams longest-tenured player at the time when he was traded to the Islanders last year.
Bortuzzo signed a one-year, two-way contract with Utah over the summer.
Bortuzzo did not face the Blues last year because he was injured when the Islanders faced St.
Louis in both February and March.
If Bortuzzo makes the Utah roster, he could be back at Enterprise Center on Nov.

Minor Burns unit Defenseman prospect Quinton Burns almost spent as much time in the penalty box as he did on the ice during Saturdays loss in Dallas.
Burns racked up nine penalty minutes (he played 11:36) against the Stars, called for a roughing minor, a fighting major and a holding minor.
Burns, a third-round pick in 2023, is no stranger to the penalty box as he had 120 PIMs in just 58 games in the OHL last season.
During the two-game Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase, Burns had nine PIMs: a tripping call (Chicago scored on the power play), a fighting major and a cross-checking minor.
Burns is expected to play with Kingston in the OHL this season..
