The winning streak in Los Angeles is over and it came at the hands of their greatest rivals, as the Boston Celtics leveraged home advantage to beat them 111-101.

The superstar duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown combined for 71 points (40+31 respectively), while the LA Lakers troubles are exacerbated due to injury worries.

LeBron James limped off before the end of the game due to a groin injury and even though James said hell take it day-to-day afterward, it casts a cloud over a recent winning streak.

Luka Doncic was dependable as usual with 34 points but head coach JJ Redick lamented Lakers out of character showing that contributed to this loss.

JJ Redick on LA Lakers vs Boston Celtics Redick wouldnt have thought when he started the Lakers job that hed be coaching Luka Doncic at a team contending to reach the Finals this year itself.

However, after Doncics trade to the LA Lakers in remarkable circumstances, the Lakers have gelled quicker than anyone could have imagined.

With that, comes increased expectations, something which Redick has handled extremely well in his short time as head coach so far.

Those high standards were on full display when Redick took questions from the media after this loss, their first after an eight-game winning streak.

Redick said that the Lakers suffered from a brain-fog execution-wise in the third quarter, when they were outscored by 16 points.

That is something one doesnt associate with basketball savants like James and Doncic.

Redick said: Sometimes, in these games, you never know what to chalk these things up to but the start of the east coast trip, some brain fog execution-wise, it was a little out of character for us.

I think that contributed as well to that third quarter.

We would call a play, then actually not run the play, not have the right defender on the right spot, and just out of character,r and that got us stagnant.

LA Lakers margin of error has gotten extremely thin As said above, the season expectations of the Lakers have just risen exponentially after the Doncic trade and their own form did nothing to dispel that notion.

To live up to those expectations, these are the types of games they need to be winning and set a marker in to convince themselves they belong at this level.

In their winning streak prior to this game, they had already beaten the likes of the Denver Nuggets and the New York Knicks but the Celtics are in a tier above even those teams.

James injury remains one to keep an eye on while the playoff place remains virtually a guarantee for them this season.

They cant be out of character anymore when the business end of the season begins.

Pressure is a privilege.
