NYY @ STL: Carlos Carrasco vs. Andre Pallante

Chris Tilley-Imagn Images Maybe this game will be a nice distraction from all that scary injury news.
Developments out of spring camp have not been ideal for the Yankees.
It appears likely that Giancarlo Stanton and Gerrit Cole will miss substantial amounts of time, perhaps even the entire 2025 season.
Additionally, Luis Gil is expected to be sidelined for at least a couple months with a high-grade lat strain.
While its certainly difficult to avoid foreboding Yankees injury news by watching Yankees baseball, maybe this afternoons matchup with the Cardinals can bring some solace.
Carlos Carrasco will toe the slab for the Yankees for the third time this spring.
His first two outings went well; he allowed one run in two solid innings against the Twins on February 25th, then maneuvered around four walks to complete 2.2 scoreless frames versus the Pirates.
With those injuries to Cole and Gil (to say nothing of Clarke Schmidts slow buildup), Carrasco suddenly has a good chance to begin the season in the MLB pitching staff, even as possibly a long man.
He will face a Cardinals lineup which features all of their presumptive Opening Day starters.
The Redbirds will counter with Andre Pallante, a groundball specialist who put together a solid 2024 campaign primarily in the starting rotation.
Pallante tossed three scoreless innings against the Mets in his last spring start despite diminished velocity. The Yankees lineup features the Yankees new middle-infield combo at the top of the lineup along with several players competing for roster spots, like Ben Rice, Oswald Peraza, and J.C.
Escarra.
As far as other presumptive Opening Day starters, Jasson Dominguez gets the start in left field and Oswaldo Cabrera will man first.
