Azzi Fudd's future remains in the air as the star guard continues to weigh her options heading into the NCAA tournament.

Fudd has been at UConn for four seasons, though her time as a member of the Huskies had been riddled with injuries, leaving her true potential a mystery.

When she is right, the guard is a dangerous offensive threat, able to hit the 3-pointer with immense accuracy and is a body the defense must account for at all times.

However, because of her injury-plagued college career, Fudd's true version has been hard to ascertain, which is something the guard herself has had in her mind.

Speaking to reporters about playing a potential fifth year at UConn to further hone her skills, Fudd gave a noncommittal answer.

"These four years have both been fast and extremely slow at times and I really can't believe that it's already been four years," she told reporters .

"I remember being a freshman and thinking like, 'Oh, it's gonna be a long four years.' But the coach says that every year it goes by, each season goes by, the four years go by, so so fast...

"I mean, we'll see about the fifth year, but I am so grateful for the time that I've had." For Fudd contemplating returning for a fifth year makes sense, considering her aforementioned injury history as a member of the Huskies.

If the star does return for a fifth year, she could very well use that time to prove to WNBA teams that her injury struggles are a thing of the past.

In the same vein, however, the guard could suffer an injury that further derails her chances of making it to the next level.

Throughout UConn's season this year, Fudd has been projected to either be selected by the Golden State Valkyries with the No.

5 pick in the draft, a selection late in the first round or even in the later rounds.

Considering how volatile her draft has been, it is difficult to know if Fudd truly is ready for the next level.

Even UConn head coach Geno Auriemma was noncommittal when asked if he believed Fudd was ready for the WNBA.

Speaking to reporters ahead of UConn's senior night matchup against Marquette, the legendary head coach was hesitant to say if Fudd was ready for the next level, instead stating that it was up to the individual players to know.

And for Fudd, she will have up to 24 hours after UConn's final postseason tournament game to decide if she will declare for the draft or return to college.

"Do I think she's ready?" Auriemma pondered .

"I mean, I've always thought to myself that players have to be tremendously confident when they leave here about what the next step for them is.

And I just want her to make sure she's played enough basketball here, done enough things, tested herself enough that she feels completely 100 percent ready to go.

"And again, kids may ask my opinion.

But in the end, they're gonna have to make that decision." Looking for more to watch ? Peacock has hit shows, movies, live sports, and more.
