Dak Prescott’s ominous reaction to Zack Martin’s retirement, picks out his biggest strength

Dak Prescotts reaction sets a dark tone for the 2025 season.
With the Philadelphia Eagles also ruling the NFL, the Cowboys backs are against the wall.
When Dak Prescott went down for the last time in the 2024 season, he knew some things.
He had a decent idea that if he were to miss the season, not everyone would be back with the Dallas Cowboys in 2025.
CeeDee Lamb almost assuredly would return as would Micah Parsons most likely, regardless of how long Jerry Jones dragged his feet .
Mike McCarthy might not return, but McCarthys exit had been floated for quite some time.
However, he didnt appear to be ready to lose his future Hall of Fame offensive guard Zack Martin.
Dak Prescott on losing Zack Martin forever Now living under the regime of the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl win, Dak Prescott is tasked with recovering well enough to challenge the Super Bowl victors.
At the same time, his offensive line has taken a hit by losing Zack Martin to retirement.
In a March 3 article on Cowboys.com , Prescott called Martin a Warrior.
Zacks the best.
Its hard to even fathom a locker room or huddle without Zack Martin.
Hes been here since Ive been here and hes been a warrior.
You talk about a guy who doesnt miss time and, if he does, you know its bad.
Well have to step it up and fill that void, Prescott added.
[Martin] is loved and appreciated, and you look at the stat about his holding penalties and that speaks for itself.
Hes a first-ballot guy.
Incredible, incredible career.
Of course, it was unclear if he was lumping Jerry Jones into the bucket of Cowboys who need to fill the void.
However, as the teams general manager, it would be logical that the crux of the job falls on him to find a suitable replacement.
Zack Martins retirement could not come at a more difficult time One of the key responsibilities of an offensive lineman is to keep their quarterback on their feet.
Without Martin, the Cowboys are suddenly more vulnerable, which is bad news for Dak Prescott.
Prescott, who is still recovering from a hamstring injury, could be tasked with avoiding a repeat injury in 2025 without one of his best linemen.
Had Martin stuck around for another season to help keep Prescott healthy, he could have transitioned out at that time.
Now, the quarterback will be forced to go into the 2025 season without testing the injury in a live game and with a potentially weaker offensive line.
As such, it will fall on Prescott to be essentially perfect on his pre-snap reads in getting his offensive line blocking the correct people.
He also will need to get the ball out quickly, especially early in the year.
Losing Martin might be like Prescott trying to win with one hand behind his back.
It will fall on Jerry Jones to slide in a replacement.
