Tiger Woods return to golf course confirmed after skipping Arnold Palmer Invitational

Golfing icon Tiger Woods may have opted out of the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, but will compete at the annual Seminole Pro-Member tournament on Monday.

Woods will play at Seminole with former PGA of America CEO Seth Waugh for the second consecutive year, after his first-ever appearance at the event in 2024.

Fellow PGA Tour professionals Rory McIlroy , Justin Thomas , Collin Morikawa , Keegan Bradley, and Rickie Fowler will also play on March 3.

NFL legend Tom Brady is also listed on the field, with high-profile members from other sporting backgrounds eligible to compete.

The wait goes on for Woods' return to the PGA Tour, as he hasn't featured in an event since last years Open Championship.

Woods has been operating on a part-time schedule during the latter stages of his golf career, with several injury problems leading to his decision.

Woods has also joined the PGA Tour Enterprises board of directors, and has spent time deep in negotiations as the ongoing merger with LIV Golf is yet to be agreed.

Woods has also launched TGL and is a member of the Jupiter Links Golf Club, who compete in the new technological golf league co-founded alongside McIlroy.

Despite this, Woods intends to play in the "big events" throughout 2025, but is yet to feature in a PGA Tour event.

The 82-time PGA Tour winner was scheduled to compete at The Genesis Invitational, the signature event that he hosts, but withdrew after the sudden death of his mother, Kultida.

On Feb.

4, Woods announced that his mother had passed away aged 80, and initially intended to play at Genesis on Feb.

13 before changing his mind.

"It is with heartfelt sadness that I want to share that my dear mother, Kultida Woods, passed away early this morning," Woods wrote in an emotional statement posted on social media.

My Mom was a force of nature all her own, her spirit was simply undeniable.

"She was quick with the needle and a laugh.

She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter, without her none of my personal achievements would have been possible.

"She was loved by so many, but especially by her two grandchildren, Sam and Charlie.

Thank you all for your support, prayers and privacy at this difficult time for me and my family.

Looking ahead, Woods could compete at the Players Championship from March 13-16 due to having one year remaining on his exemption.

It's expected that Woods will compete at the Masters Tournament in April, with the golf legend also exempt due to being a former champion.

Woods has won five Masters titles, placing him second on the all-time list, with only Jack Nicklaus ahead on six victories.

Woods dominated the tournament over an eight-year period with wins in 1997, 2001, 2002, and 2005, but his heroic win in 2019 is one of his most memorable performances..
