With the win, that home-ice points percentage bumps up to .780, the best in the AHL.

In other words, Blue Arena is a tough place for the opposition to play.

That proved to be the case for the Reign last night.

The one thing a visiting team cant afford to do against the Eagles is fall behind, and fall behind multi-goals because Colorado is sixth in goals against and first in goals scored on home ice in the league.

They also get good defense and goaltending, feed off the energy from the crowd, and the Reign found out what happens when you fall behind the eight ball against a great team on home ice.

Two post shots were the only quality looks Ontario generated.

The Reign were out of sorts due to Colorados penalty killers putting on a clinic stifling the Reigns zone entries and being aggressive on the puck carrier and on the forecheck when the Reign were retrieving the puck in their end after Colorado clearing attempts.

Their stellar penalty kill got rewarded with a short-handed goal from Jake Wise in the middle frame to double their lead.

For the Reign, they had multiple efforts in the second period to gain momentum, and it got snatched away by Colorados penalty kill.

Against a team like Colorado, you have to convert on your opportunities, and the Reign couldnt.

Colorado is 23-15 against the Reign in the regular season and playoffs (Colorado is 6-0 in playoff games against Ontario) combined in that time.

If you go back to last season, Colorado has won eight of the last 12 meetings against Ontario.

They have the Reigns number; plain and simple.

Before last nights game, they were top three in goals scored and goals against in the league.

They have size, speed, skill, and exceptional special teams.

The Eagles have a unique team that imposes challenges, and when you combine all of those qualities, it has given the Reign problems.

How do you change the narrative of one team constantly defeating you? A win tonight would be a start.

NOTES: * Charles Hudons nine-game point streak came to an end.

It was his first shutout of the season.
