Gabriel Domecus proves his net worth

For four years Gabriel Domecus helped put Vallejo volleyball on the map with his stellar play at St.
Patrick-St.
Vincent High School.
A decade later, Vallejo is now putting Domecus where he belongs. The Vallejo Sports Hall of Fame.Domecus was the Bay Shore MVP three times, leading the Bruins three North Coast Section championships (2011-2013).
He was a first-team all conference players all four years he was at St.
Pats.
He was also an All-American in 2013.
His number 6 at St.
Pats is retired and can never be worn again. His exceptional play didnt stop in college.
He won two national championships at Ohio State (2016, 2017), earning NCAA Honorable Mention All-American honors each time.
He played professionally overseas in Finland for Team Lakkapaa. In March, Domecus is looking to bring it all full circle. When I found out I was going into the Vallejo Sports Hall of Fame I was very excited.
It was something I didnt even know was possible when I was growing up, Domecus said.
But it will be a fun way to kind of wrap up my athletic career in the place where everything started Vallejo.
It will be nice to have a lot of nostalgic feelings that weekend and kind of put a cherry on top of my career.St.

Gabriel watched his older siblings play volleyball for years as a kid and it wasnt long before he loved the sport as well.I had so many people help me get to where I am today, especially my parents, Domecus said.
I am happy for the amount of work they put in so I could pursue my dreams.
When my older siblings were playing, I wasnt old enough to be left at home, so I traveled with them to all their games and practices.
It was as if soon after I was born a volleyball was put in my hands.
I was never thrusted into playing the sport myself, but with all the experience my family had in the sport, it was only a matter of time.Gabriel said he was busy growing up playing a lot of sports, whether it be volleyball, soccer, baseball, water polo or basketball.
He played water polo and basketball during his first two years at St.
Pats, but soon realized volleyball was his top sport.I loved playing sports, because it was a way for you to always be playing with your friends and people you enjoyed being around, Gabriel Domecus said.
After a while it seems my best friends where the ones playing volleyball with me and I wanted to be around them all the time.Volleyball players Paige Reed, Matt Peretto and Gabe Domecus (left to right), display plaques during a ceremony at which St.

Vincent High School retired the numbers of the three Bruin alumni.Turns out many of his friends at high school wanted to cheer him on as well.
From 2011-2013 the Bruin Lair became not only a tough place for an opposing team to win a match, but it became something resembling a huge party.
Fans and students would pack the gym with costumes, chants and signs.Since my mom coached the girls teams as well, Id say Id be in some trouble if I didnt attend those games as well, Gabriel said, with a laugh.
So after a while I began urging the boys team, the football team, the basketball team, all kinds of students to go to the girls games, support them and have fun.
Thankfully, the favor was returned when the boys team was playing.
It turned into a pretty rowdy environment, but it was also fun because we would win a lot.Gabriel loves all three of the section titles he won at St.
Pats, but the first one he won as a sophomore is his favorite.Although I may not quite remember it as well, the first one we won when I was a sophomore meant a lot, Gabriel said.
My mom had developed volleyball in the area for a while.
Volleyball was known to have successful teams more east of where I played, but she helped create success in the North Bay and we were a program that was always climbing ladders.
So to have this amazing achievement for the first time and prove success was possible in Vallejo felt great.Gabriel hurt his back prior to to his years at Ohio State, but everything turned out for the best.
Instead of being an outside hitter like he was at St.
Pats, Gabriel switched to the position of Libero.I had no experience playing Libero, which is a completely different position from anything else I had done, whether it was a setter or outside hitter, Gabriel said.
But it turned out for the best as I played Libero all four years.Ohio State won back-to-back national championships in 2016 and 2017, and once again, its the first of the two titles he enjoyed a little more. They were both great, but the first one I dont think anyone expected us to win, Gabriel said.
Most people thought the powerhouses for college volleyball were teams from out west, and a lot of times thats the case.
But we proved we had a big program in the sport as well. After playing professionally in Finland for a year, Gabriel longed for a warmer climate and took a job he enjoys in San Diego to this day in sustainability software. On March 15, hes looking forward to embracing his athletic career once again. You know, Vallejo is not a huge spot on the radar for sports for whatever reason, but it seems like we have some all-time greats in just about every professional sport, Gabriel said.
Im looking forward to not only having some nostalgic feelings that weekend, but also meeting a lot of the other great athletes that day and learning their stories. The 19th annual Vallejo Sports Hall of Fame Ceremony will begin March 15 at 3:30 p.m.
The Coach Sarna League and Vallejo PAL are hosting this years event, which will feature all proceeds going toward youth sports scholarships.Prices are $80 for an adult ticket, while the price is $40 for a youth ticket (ages 6-12)..
