Jimmy Butler has faced his fair share of recent criticism for his forced exit from the Miami Heat , but Lou Williams remains irked by something the star did much earlier in his career.

Butler has made a quick start to his Warriors career and has earned the praise of teammate Steph Curry who was named the All-Star MVP.

After three suspensions by the Heat this year, Butler was rarely on the court to try and secure his seventh All-Star appearance, something that Lou Williams never experienced.

Williams failed to get All-Star recognition Sadly it is not rare for players to pull out of the NBA All-Star game at short notice, despite many enjoying the tag of being an All-Star it seems very few can be bothered to truly put in the effort on gameday.

LeBron James has been called out for his last-minute All-Star no-show , Anthony Edwards also pulled out of this years event at the last minute.

Last-minute withdrawals are annoying for those stars who narrowly missed out, Norman Powell will certainly be left frustrated by his missed opportunity .

One man who knows how Powell will be feeling is Lou Williams.

The former Clippers player revealed how he missed out on picking up a maiden All-Star appearance by Butler who then pulled out of the game.

Speaking on Fan Duels Run It Back, Williams said: I actually missed an All-Star game like this.

Jimmy Butler got named the last person to the All-Star game just to wait a day before to say he was not gonna play when I was a bubble guy who would have got that spot.

These things happen, these guys do this.

Lou wouldve dropped 50 on an All-Star defense lets be so for real right now...

Jimmy Butler probably had no say in the matter, but Im still over here thinking about what could have been pic.twitter.com/9xK9XmVL47 All-Star weekend criticized across the board Even before the beginning of the All-Star weekend, there were many critics of the new tournament layout of the games.

The old East vs West was switched out by the NBA in a bid to revive the All-Star weekend which is losing its star power.

Draymond Green revealed his dismay at the new format and specifically called out the addition of the Rising Stars.

NBA fans let their feeling be known about the new format as they called it embarrassing , its clear to see more changes need to be made to bring back the love for the All-Star weekend.

Many will be looking forward to the return of regular season action when the LA Lakers take on the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, February 19.
