Draymond Green tore into the NBA All-Star weekend format on Sunday night in a blistering rant live on TNT - as LeBron James pulled out of what could have been his final All-Star game.

James withdrew from the game late on Sunday before the game due to a foot discomfort issue, leaving fans less-than impressed .

The Los Angeles Lakers star was the biggest name involved this weekend, and his withdrawal was a bitter note for the weekend to end on.

This years All-Star game took on a different format, with four teams playing a single-elimination tournament, with two semi-finals and a final .

The tournament was meant to be following the same format as the NHL All-Star games, but fell somewhat flat.

The weekend saw the NBA on TNT hosts - Charles Barkley , Kenny Smith, Candace Parker and Shaquille ONeal - selecting the four teams, with ONeals team coming out on top.

The new format meant every game ended whenever a team scored 40 points , meaning players couldnt take a run at the All-Star game scoring record, currently held by Jayson Tatum in 2023 when he scored 55.

But despite the bold approach taken for this year, not everyone was impressed, with Golden State Warriors star Green voicing his opinions on TNT beforehand.

Warriors star Green said live on TNT: You work all year to be an All-Star and then you get to play up to 40 and then youre done? Thinks is so unfair to Victor Wemnbanyama who just took this game really seriously, this is so unfair to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who just took this game really seriously.

"When you talk about chasing after the points record, Melo, Kobe, all these guys who have had great scoring nights.

They dont get the opportunity to do that with this game.

Now we get the treat of watching the Olympics team...

playing against a U-19 team? Come on now, what are we doing? This is ridiculous.

Asked for his opinion on how the new format worked out, Green replied? [1-10] with 10 being the best? Zero.

Sucks.

This aint basketball..
