Colorado honors Celtics’ Derrick White with spot on Wall of Honor

By Colin McCarthy The Colorado mens basketball team immortalized Derrick White on Saturday afternoon.

White, who had free time during the NBA All-Star break, was added to the Buffaloes Wall of Honor during Colorados home game against UCF, which the team called Derrick White Day.

The Buffaloes held a ceremony to unveil Whites jersey hanging high above the court.

White is among the first 10 honorees in the Wall of Honor, which Colorado announced prior to the beginning of this season.

Colorados focus is on former players who achieved at least five years of service in the NBA, according to the teams website.

Among the other names are Chauncey Billups, Alec Burks, Spencer Dinwiddie, and more.

A kid that grew up in Colorado, it was always a dream to go play at the best school in Colorado.

White averaged 18.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game with the Buffaloes before being drafted by the San Antonio Spurs in 2017.

Once the Celtics traded for White, he blossomed in his role and was a key figure in Bostons championship run last season.

White still actively supports the Buffaloes, and has been in attendance at Colorado football games during Deion Sanderss tenure as head coach of the program.

Now, his No.

21 jersey will live on at his alma mater and hometown college team.

White and the Celtics return to action on Thursday night, taking on the 76ers in Philadelphia.
