RCTC men pull away to defeat Anoka-Ramsey in series finale of regular season

ROCHESTER After leading by six points at the half, the Rochester Community and Technical College mens basketball team pulled away for a 78-65 win over Anoka-Ramsey Community College in the Yellowjacket's regular season series finale on Saturday afternoon.

RCTC head coach Brian LaPlante described the game as "scrappy" and "hectic." ADVERTISEMENT Sophomore forward Jamison Lien led the team in scoring with 29 points.

Lien also had five rebounds and three assists.

Sophomore guard/forward Laden Nerison notched 23 points, nine rebounds and five assists while sophomore guard Leroy Barnes recorded 10 points, three rebounds and two assists.

First-year forward Cole Johnson added four points, 10 assists, four rebounds and three steals.

Albert Tinnell IV scored a team-high 23 points for Anoka-Ramsey.

He also had nine rebounds, three assists and two steals.

RCTC shot 59.6% from the field while Anoka was 40.7%.

It was the second time the Yellowjackets beat Anoka-Ramsey this season, the first was back on Wed., Jan.

29 with an almost identical score to Saturday's game of 79-65.

RCTC improves to 17-10 overall and 6-6 in Minnesota College Athletic Conference play.

The Yellowjackets are seeded fourth in the upcoming regional tournament taking place Feb.

28-March 2.

RCTC will play Central Lakes at 1 p.m.

on Friday, Feb.
