Lincoln Riley plays massive role in flipping 4-star QB from Oregon to USC

A college football head coach plays a big role in recruiting.
For instance, head coach Lincoln Riley is the face of the USC Trojans .
That's especially true in the transfer portal and NIL era when players can go to a different college every season.
That said, coaches get a lot of help from their assistants on the recruiting trail, so often, a top recruit has a better relationship with their primary recruiter or position coach than they do with the head coach.
That leads to many big recruiting wins, for which the head coach still gets the credit.
That's not the case with four-star quarterback Jonas Williams, though.
On Friday night, he switched his commitment from Oregon to USC to play for Riley specifically in mind.
BREAKING: Four-Star QB Jonas Williams has Flipped his Commitment from Oregon to USC, he tells me for @on3recruits The 63 215 QB from Frankfort Heights, IL had been Committed to the Ducks since August Trojan Nation, lets turn up https://t.co/3JPg4a1HQV pic.twitter.com/4iCzwNFI8c Coach Riley, he is the driving factor in my recruitment, Williams recently told On3 .
Also what they did with the 25 class and what theyre doing with the 26 class is pretty intriguing.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Williams is the No.
6 quarterback recruit in the 2026 class.
With his commitment, Riley now has 10 recruits verbally signed up to USC's 2026 class, and its ranking is No.
2 nationally , behind only Oregon ironically.
Riley was the epicenter of Williams' decision to commit to USC, but it was also everything the Trojans bring to the table.
The culture, the area, center of LA, and the people in the building, Williams explained.
