76ers front office let off the hook by NBA analyst despite nightmare season | Sporting News

The Philadelphia 76ers expected a better season than how things have turned out .
Injuries have ruined their season, from Joel Embiids troublesome knee to Paul Georges finger .
It goes beyond them too.
When it comes down to it, the injury bug has bitten the Sixers pretty badly.
After the reinforcements Philadelphia added during the offseason, one could argue that the Sixers' problems have been caused by bad luck.
The front office could not have seen all of the misfortune coming.
Therefore, this season, CBS Sports did not hold the Sixers issues against their front office.
Ranking Daryl Morey and co.
No.
10 among league front offices, they were called smart but unlucky.
That didnt stop the Sixers from being criticized for the contracts they gave Embiid and George.
Giving those two max deals does not look good on Philadelphias part after how things have turned out.
However, the Sixers were defended because the process behind signing those two to such expensive contracts made sense at the time.
In summary, those moves look bad, but only in hindsight.
At the time, they were pretty easy decisions.
Plus, it does beg the question of whether things will be as bad for the Sixers next season in 2026 as they have been in 2025.
Embiid may return to his former dominant self once he gets the necessary surgery to get his knee right.
George will only get older, but if he can avoid the injury bug, he could still be productive enough to help put the Sixers back into contention.
So much has backfired on Philadelphia in 2025, but if they return to form next season, their struggles may be forgotten and forgiven a year from now.
