Patrick Mahomes has shaved his iconic afro off after being seen for the first time since his Kansas City Chiefs ' crushing Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles .

The three-time Super Bowl winner has rocked the same brunette locks throughout his career, having a distinct afro since he had been drafted into the league as a first-round pick in 2017.

His afro has even be copied by some, with Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola having the same haircut through his first year in college football.

But images this week have shown the Chiefs quarterback to have cut his hair, now having a much shorter afro with his sides faded.

It looks to be the shortest he's cut his hair since his high school days.

The picture is the first seen of Mahomes since the Chiefs' brutal loss to the Eagles in the NFL championship game, where they had missed out on becoming the first team ever to win three consecutive Super Bowl's.

The won would have pushed Mahomes into the debate as potentially the greatest of all-time, alongside or even ahead of Tom Brady.

But since the defeat, and the manner of it, many have now begun to question whether the Chiefs quarterback is the best in the league as of today.

While leading the Chiefs to back-to-back Super Bowl wins in 2022 and 2023, his individual statistics in 2023 and 2024 have been just above league-average, with him not being in the discussion to win MVP in each of the last two years.

The likes of Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow and Josh Allen are all seen as in the same conversation as Mahomes for the best in the league, the latter two winning the regular season MVP within the last two years.

The Chiefs quarterback is the only quarterback in the league to have more than one Super Bowl win to his record, but it remains to be seen if he'll be able to add to that with the team having an uncertain future.

His go-to receiver, Travis Kelce , looks to be coming towards the end of his incredible career, while Kansas City has multiple players who will become free agents this offseason.

They'll hope to re-sign key starters Trey Smith, Justin Reid and Nick Bolton after Kelce makes the decision on his future.
