CROOKSTON A back-and-forth third quarter flipped into a one-sided rout for the Minnesota Duluth womens basketball team on Friday, as the Bulldogs used a timely scoring surge to cruise to a vital 77-60 win over Minnesota Crookston.

The Bulldogs were dialed in on the offensive side of the floor throughout the first half, posting a red-hot 18-of-33 (54.5%) shooting clip on their way to taking a 42-33 lead into the break.

ADVERTISEMENT The efficient scoring effort was aided by a 22-8 advantage in points in the paint guided by Lexi Karge, who finished the half with 11 of her team-high 22 points.

Johanna Miller recorded a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

The Golden Eagles leaned on the scoring touch of Emma Miller to battle back to within three late in the third quarter at 51-48 following a 15-9 run.

Millers 26-point night was not enough, though, as the Bulldogs quickly reclaimed momentum with a dominant 21-5 run into the final frame, building an insurmountable 75-55 lead.

UMD (9-17, 7-14) will take on Bemidji State in the final game of the regular season on Saturday, Feb.

21, at 5:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs are in a three-way tie with Winona State and Crookston for the last two places in the NSIC tournament..
