Yankees fans react with mixed feelings on Aaron Boone contract extension | Sporting News

Aaron Boone isn't going anywhere for the immediate future.
As expected, the New York Yankees manager officially agreed to a contract extension that will run through the 2027 season, the team announced Thursday.
Boone has a 603-429 (.584) record as manager of the Yankees with a 22-23 record in the postseason.
The Yankees haven't won 100 games in a season since 2019.
But they have finished in second place or better in the division in all but two of his seasons.
Boone currently ranks seventh all-time in franchise history with 603 wins and is eighth in winning percentage.
His 174 games over .500 ranks sixth.
He also has the most ejections for a manager in Yankees history with 39.
Boone led the Yankees to their first World Series appearance in 15 years, ultimately losing in five games to the Los Angeles Dodgers .
The reactions to the contract extension from Yankees fans were mixed, to say the least.
Aaron Boone contract extension reactions When will I experience joy https://t.co/7cF5ffNbIZ pic.twitter.com/rWTjHdX7IQ Reality: - Every manager makes bad decisions at times - Every fan base gets angry at their manager and thinks they're worse than they actually are - Aaron Boone always has his players backs - Aaron Boone knows how to handle the media well - Aaron Boone is loved in that clubhouse https://t.co/9Z3DjxzAiX I love not winning! https://t.co/tGAQ0zGMb3 Mere months ago, after one of the single worst decisions I've ever seen, people reaffirmed how awful he is left & right.
Now my timeline is filled with people convincing themselves this isn't a bad thing.
The cope is crazy.
Just because we're not surprised doesn't mean it's good.
https://t.co/DVAZFKpyJ2 To infinity and beyondddd https://t.co/yeOUtoRkPe A masterclass in mismanagement, awarded with a contract.
A team sale, fans should celebrate like theyve won a championship.
I feel for @TheJudge44 and Cole.
Hope Im wrong.
Boone is inept and standing between this squad and a ring.
Front office worst in sports history.
https://t.co/PGhv09O5j6 Im fine with this.
Better manager than he gets credit for.
I dont think this changes anything drastically for the next few years.
If they got rid of him after 25 Cashman would just bring in someone very similar.
So unless you see Cashman going anywhere, I dont really care...
https://t.co/9R9R0hId86 The comments are going to be an absolute war zone.
I personally like Boone.
Hes not perfect, but the players respect him and thats a massive part of the job.
