Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks gear up for spring showdown at Salt River

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.
Baseball fans, the time is almost upon us: spring training season! The Valley is a great place to spend spring training.
There are 10 ballparks in the Cactus League, all within an hour's drive of one another.
Heres a look at whats happening at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick this season.
Who plays at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick? The Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks play at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, making the ballpark the ideal spot for home team fans and visitors alike.
The Rockies are a fairly new team to Major League Baseball, the team started in 1993 as an expansion team.
They play in the National League and are one of five teams that have never won a World Series title.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are a familiar face to Arizonans, but it doesn't make it any less exciting to see them in action during the spring training season.
The D-backs are also a younger team.
The team started in 1998, and, similar to the Rockies, were an expansion team.
They play in the National League.
After just four years in Major League Baseball, the D-Backs won the World Series in 2001.
The team almost made it to win the title again in 2023, but just missed it, losing to the Texas Rangers.
History of Salt River Fields at Talking Stick The slogan for the stadium is "two tribes, two teams, one home" and Salt River Fields truly lives up to the name.
The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community partnered with both teams to build the stadium.
When it opened in 2011, it became the first Major League Spring Training Facility to be built on Indian land in the whole country.
The complex is spread over 140 acres and can seat 11,000 people.
It also has 12 practice fields, major and minor league clubhouses, training facilities, and offices for both teams.
The facility also earned the LEED Gold Certification for New Construction from the United States Green Building Council.
The certification makes Salt River Fields the first LEED Gold-certified sports venue of its kind in the country, the website says.

A fun fact about the opening weekend: even though both teams play at the stadium and there technically isn't a "home team" because of that, the first two games will be back-to-back D-backs Rockies matchups, and they "switch" who has the home field advantage.

And make sure to check out how you can get your very own souvenir ticket, too! Arizona sports The city of Phoenix is home to four major professional sports league teams; The NFL's Arizona Cardinals, NBA's Phoenix Suns, WNBAs Phoenix Mercury and MLB's Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Cardinals have made State Farm Stadium in Glendale their home turf and the Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix is home to both the Suns and the Mercury.
The Indoor Football Leagues Arizona Rattlers play at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale.
