Ian Book may well have only played one regular season NFL game during his career since being drafted in 2021, but he is now just four quarters away from potentially collecting the biggest honor in football.

Brought in by the New Orleans Saints as a fourth-round pick and the ninth quarterback of the draft four years ago, Book will have been eyeing up a lengthy NFL career having impressed for Notre Dame at college level.

The career that has followed however has been difficult, to say the least.

Having been brought in by the Saints, first impressions of the quarterback were that he would be a development talent rather than a man being thrown straight into the action.

After some time with the Saints setup, Book finally got his chance on the big stage after a string of injuries in the quarterback area saw the fourth choice come in against the Miami Dolphins.

Included in a second-string Saints team, the Dolphins ran out 20-3 winners in what was unsurprisingly a tough night for the quarterback.

Book completed 12 of his 20 throws for just 135 yards on debut.

The Notre Dame man did then not start another game for the Saints as their key players made a comeback, and following the 2022 preseason, he was eventually let go by the New Orleans franchise, moving to the Philadelphia Eagles.

His move to the Eagles provided more of the same, with Book included in the team's practice squad and as their emergency quarterback.

The 2022-23 campaign quickly passed him by, before he was eventually released and signed by the New England Patriots.

The move did not last long, after being shipped from the Patriots practice squad after a week, going on to spend the whole season as a free agent.

The Kansas City Chiefs then came calling during the following offseason, but ahead of the campaign opener was eventually cut from their squad for 2023-24.

Spending yet another year without a team, the Eagles eventually came calling again after injuries to two of their quarterbacks Jalen Hurts and Kenny Pickett.

A release followed at the end of the regular campaign, however Book was then called back up for their playoff push.

Following all of this, and with just one regular NFL appearance to his name, Book now finds himself with a chance of collecting a Super Bowl ring if the Eagles can get past the Chiefs on Sunday.

As a result, members of the practice squad are also entitled to a ring if their franchise is crowned Super Bowl champions.

What would make it all the more special for Book too, is the season finale takes place where it all began for him back in New Orleans..
