19 Nebraska began its day with a 12-2 win over Southern Mississippi in five innings at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Florida, then ended it with a 9-1 victory over Bethune-Cookman.

The Huskers have now won three consecutive games to begin the season, the 3-0 start marking the programs best since the 2016 season.

Nebraskas hitters were at their best all day long beginning with a two-home run, 12-hit performance against Southern Mississippi (0-1).

A four-run first inning at the plate included RBI hits from Jordy Bahl, who started the game at first base, and outfielder Kacie Hoffmann.

A transfer addition from Arkansas, Hoffmans first at-bat as a Husker resulted in a 2-RBI single which put Nebraska ahead 4-1.

Hoffman, an Elkhorn South graduate, faced a former high school teammate during the win as Ryanna Valdivia started the game for the Eagles.

She finished 2-for-3 at the plate, with Emmerson Cope, Ava Kuszak and Bahl all putting together multi-hit performances.

One day after leaning on Bahl for a complete game win over Tennessee, Nebraska turned to its other pitchers to get the job done on Friday.

Kylee Magee started her first game as a Husker and earned the win with a three-inning outing against Southern Mississippi.

The sophomore, who only recently returned from a summer surgery to begin pitching last month, allowed a run in each of the first two innings she pitched before settling in.

Cope pitched two scoreless innings to close out the win before head coach Rhonda Revelle turned the ball over to Hannah Camenzind as NUs game two starter.

Camenzind threw three scoreless frames and recorded the win with sophomore left-hander Caitlin Olensky pitching the games final inning.

Nebraska has now outscored its opponents 28-4 during a three-game winning streak to begin its season.

Having secured a winning record from its season-opening tournament, Nebraska will go for a second win over a ranked opponent on Saturday.
