On the streets of Philadelphia, Howie Roseman has almost taken on mythical status - which is a hard thing to accomplish.

Philadelphia sports fans are considered some of the most knowledgeable fans in sports, but it comes at a cost; Eagles - and Phillies - fans are known for their extreme passion, earning the moniker the Meanest Fans in America.

But as thousands flock from Pennsylvania to Louisiana to descend on the Superdome in New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX , Rosemans name will be as celebrated as Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley .

Roseman is the common denominator across the Eagles third Super Bowl appearance in eight seasons.

The wily general manager has earned a place in folklore by wheeling and dealing and being the master of the art of the deal.

In 2022, a season that would see the Eagles storm to Super Bowl LVII before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs , Roseman orchestrated a mega trade with the Saints that New Orleans the 16th overall pick, the 19th overall pick, and a sixth-rounder in exchange for No.

18, a third-rounder, a seventh-rounder, a 2023 first-round pick, and a 2024 second-round pick.

The move proved to be a long-term gold mine; Roseman took the first- and third-round selections from that deal and flipped them in a trade with the Tennessee Titans for receiver A.J.

Brown , while the 2023 first they got from the Saints was used in another move up to select Georgias standout defensive tackle Jalen Carter.

Then this past offseason, safety C.J.

Gardner-Johnson - who starred on the 2022 Super Bowl team - and Zack Baun were brought back on team-friendly deals, with Baun going on to receive an unlikely but much-deserved Defensive Player of the Year nomination.

In the 2024 NFL Draft , the Eagles landed Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, a pair of Defensive Rookie of the Year nominees.

But the biggest splash was the acquisition of Barkley , who was signed from the New York Giants and won Offensive Player of the Year.

So how does Roseman keep getting away with it? Hes a mastermind, safety Reed Blankenship told The Mirror U.S.

Sport.

I dont know where he gets it.

I dont know who he learned from, but he gets the job done.

He gets the right people in the room, from the players to the front office - everything.

He works in the shadows, man.

We put trust in him because hes always around.

We see him every day, so we put trust in him.

We know hes going to put the Eagles in the best position to win.

Howie understands scouting and the importance of the development of players, added defensive end Thomas Booker.

He puts the organization in a position to win by getting guys who can help the team, high character dudes who are very athletic and smart so they can be molded into great players.

Roseman might work in the shadows, but hes firmly visible with the team behind closed doors.

He is a popular figure in the locker room, likely stemming from his innate ability to bond with and develop players that he has hand-picked and identified to help the Eagles.

He knows what hes looking for, across staff and players, cornerback Avonte Maddox said.

Hes around a lot, too.

Hes in the training room, out there when were lifting, on the field when were practicing, and of course at games and in the locker room.

Hes always involved around us, so we almost dont even see him as our GM or even as a coach.

We have a different relationship with him, a special relationship, and to have that makes everything great.

It makes us feel more comfortable.

Winning is certainly comfortable.

Its a feeling that the Eagles have experienced a lot since Roseman became GM in 2010, although it came after a few difficult years where the 49-year-old was hated by the City of Brotherly Love.

He found his feet, found his rhythm, and is now cherished as one of the most renowned and revered GMs in the game.

For every yard Saquon rushes, every sack inflicted by Carter, each tackle made by Baun, Roseman is watching on, pulling the strings to make the whole operation come together.

The Eagles puppet master might just bring a Lombardi Trophy to Philadelphia once again.
