Serial Super Bowl-winning head coach Bill Belichick has identified a major flaw in the Kansas City Chiefs that contributed to their blowout Super Bowl LIX defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles .

The three-peat-chasing Chiefs allowed 34 unanswered points from the Eagles before they eventually got on the board in the third quarter via an Xavier Worthy touchdown.

Philadelphia scored six more points to extend their lead to 40-6 and even put in backup quarterback Kenny Pickett.

Patrick Mahomes ' offense scored 16 points in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late, with the scoreline standing at 40-22 at the end of regulation time in New Orleans.

For Mahomes, it was one of his worst NFL performances, being sacked six times, while also throwing two interceptions, including a pick-six to Cooper DeJean in the first half.

Belichick , an eight-time Super Bowl winner - with six coming as the head coach of the New England Patriots - has highlighted where Kansas City's offensive struggles in the Super Bowl lied.

The new North Carolina Tar Heels head coach says Andy Reid and the Chiefs need to take a look at left tackle this offseason.

"For Kansas City this year, a good place to look is the left tackle situation.

Clearly, Andy (Reid) and Brett (Veach), the general manager, identified that as a problem," Belichick said on 'Let's Go.' Guard Joe Thuney found himself playing at tackle towards the back end of the 2024 season as Kansas City struggled to fill the position.

"They (the Chiefs) knew what the problem was.

They tried to address it, it didn't work out with Kinglsey, it didn't work out with (Wanya) Morris," Belichick added.

"You get up against some teams, and you can get by with that, but until you get up against the best teams or the best team, that was a problem for them (the Chiefs)." Kansas City may also have to prepare for next season without future NFL Hall of Famer Travis Kelce, who is reportedly weighing up whether to carry on another campaign or retire.

"I know everybody wants to know whether I'm playing next year and, right now, I'm just kicking everything down the road," Kelce said on his "New Heights" podcast.

"I'm kicking every can I can down the road.

I'm not making any crazy decisions.

I've been fortunate over the past five, six years I've played more football than anybody.

The fact that we keep going to these AFC championships and these Super Bowls, that means I'm playing an extra three games more than everybody else in the entire league.

That's a lot of wear and tear on your body.".
