Manchester United are set to appoint Marc Armstrong as the clubs chief business officer after concluding lengthy negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain, where Armstrong was the clubs chief revenue officer.

British-born Armstrong is expected to begin work at Old Trafford within weeks and a start date has been agreed.

Advertisement Armstrong has successfully been directing PSGs financial strategy since 2022 and is considered a top-level commercial operator.

He will work under CEO Omar Berrada, who oversees the commercial and football side of Manchester United.

On the football side, Berrada is working closely with Jason Wilcox, Sir Dave Brailsford and Collette Roche to try to get the football structure right.

United see Armstrong as having a proven track record in running day-to-day commercial activity and this will be his role.

United are cutting costs, but they need to increase revenues.

Armstrong had previously worked with the Football Association as head of business development until 2007, when he moved to TEAM marketing which worked closely with UEFA in Switzerland.

He relocated to the United States in 2012 to be vice-president of marketing partnerships for the NBA.
