The New York Giants have poached Jacksonville Jaguars wide receivers coach Chad Hall - the brother-in-law of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford - for their vacant assistant offensive coordinator position.

Hall, 38, played four years in the NFL as a wide receiver.

He joined current Giants head coach Brian Daboll's offensive staff with the Buffalo Bills back in 2017 and remained in upstate New York until 2022.

While Stafford is not a free agent and fresh off a campaign where he led the Rams to the doorstep of the NFC Championship Game , he may angle for a move as Los Angeles looks to reshape their roster .

Meanwhile, the Giants currently do not have a single quarterback under contract after releasing incumbent starter Daniel Jones midway through the 2024 campaign .

The Rams announced they are placing former triple crown-winning receiver Copper Kupp - a good friend of Stafford's - on the trade block.

Stafford's wife Kelly responded to the move on her 'Morning After' podcast.

"One play away, and all of a sudden in the offseason, youre talking about trading your veteran wide receiver, who has been a pillar in this place," she said in early February.

Kelly Stafford teased how her husband may also be on the move.

"And theres now talk about trading your quarterback away? I dont get it, it confuses me.

"Do we want to be in L.A.? Yeah, but a lot has to happen," she continued.

"My husband wants to win.

Hes not trying to put a team in a bad situation...He wants to win, hes at the end of his career wants to win.

But there has to be a slight feeling of being valued and respected." Stafford has two years remaining on a four-year, $160 million extension he signed after the Rams won Super Bowl LVI in 2022.

Los Angeles would save $27 million if he's designated as a post-6/1 trade.

In 16 games last season, the 37-year-old future Hall of Famer completed 65.8 percent of his passes for 3,762 yards with a 20-8 touchdown-interception ratio.

For Hall, transitioning from a receivers coach to quarterbacks one likely fast tracks him on the road to one day becoming an offensive coordinator (and potentially a head coach).

He coached two separate 1,000+ yard receivers in Jacksonville.

Hall first got a renaissance campaign out of veteran Calvin Ridley in 2023 before coaxing a superstar year out of rookie Brian Thomas Jr.
