Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was stunned and 'sick' by the Dallas Mavericks' decision to trade superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Doncic , 25, will link up with LeBron James and the Lakers after a three-team trade involving the Utah Jazz was agreed.

The Mavs signed off on Doncic leaving the franchise for a Western Conference rival in exchange for 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis , reserve guard Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round draft pick.

After the trade, the Slovenian is no longer eligible for a $345 million Supermax contract, but he can recoup most of that money if he signs a three-year extension this summer, with a player option for the 2028-29 season.

His projected starting salary for the 2028-29 season would be $72 million.

After leading the Mavs to last season's NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics , Dallas' decision to move the five-time All-NBA First Teamer has sent shockwaves through the sports world.

Several NBA stars were in disbelief, and now, Chiefs QB Mahomes.

The NFL top dog has a Super Bowl to compete for next Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles , but he gave his raw reaction.

"Wait what? I'm sick rn....." Mahomes tweeted.

The Lakers hope Doncic can get up to speed quickly after returning from a calf injury.

Doncic has been out of action since late December.

After being injured against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Christmas Day, Doncic has already missed 19 games this season.

The Lakers, fifth in the Western Conference, face the Mavericks in Los Angeles on Feb.

25, giving Doncic and Davis a chance to shine against their former franchises early on.

According to ESPN, Neither player was aware of the news ahead of time.

The move suggests that the Lakers are starting to prepare for life after James, who's 40 and nearing the end of his playing career.

James himself only learned about the deal while he was out to dinner with his family after another standout performance.

James recorded 33 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists in the win over the New York Knicks inside Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.

"He led tonight with his spirit, his force, his voice," said Lakers coach JJ Redick.

"Obviously, he played a fantastic statistic game, but from the beginning, it was very clear that he was on a mission." "I have no idea how I'm still doing this at this level," James said after he became the first player ever with multiple triple-doubles over the age of 40..
