Nebraska football's major recruiting weekend, and an update on Elkhorn North's Jase Reynolds

Nebraska football has a major recruiting weekend as it prepares to host at least 12 recruits, including key targets in the 2026 class.
NU's winter junior day event allows recruits to have in-depth conversations with coaches.
Nebraska typically hosts one in the summer, too.
The Huskers have four new assistant coaches, meaning this weekend is an opportunity to build connections.
Theres a bunch of new defensive coaches, so Im excited to meet all the new dudes that are in town now, Elkhorn North 2026 linebacker Jase Reynolds said.
I havent had a chance to go down there since any of the changes, so Im looking forward to meeting those coaches and starting to build my relationship with them.
Got a chance to catch up with @CoachMattRhule and @s_kwilli32 today! I appreciate you guys stopping by! Looking forward to getting back on campus soon!! #GBR pic.twitter.com/6TuD8H4P8G Reynolds, who has long been a target of NU's, was happy Rob Dvoracek remained on staff.
Reynolds has already built a strong relationship with the Huskers' linebackers coach following several visits to Lincoln over the last two years.

For 2026 recruits (current high school juniors), the time to make a decision is coming.
Reynolds plans to continue his recruitment through the spring, with trips to Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State and Minnesota on his radar.
Still, he knows another weekend with the NU coaching staff could provide clarity.
Me and my family, we think its really important to go to a place thats got a great culture, Reynolds said.
Im looking for a place that even if Im not playing my freshman or sophomore year, theyre going to be loyal to me because Im going to give all Ive got for them.
Its important to have a place thats not going to turn their backs on me, thats going to want to build me up.
Nebraska coaches, including Matt Rhule, were out recruiting all month, but theyll be unable to make any further recruiting visits until mid-April, at the earliest.
Another goal of the junior day weekend is to show invitees they are among NU's priority recruits.
Only a small number of 2027 prospects, including Millard West offensive lineman Matt Erickson and Chandler (Ariz.) Basha running back Noah Roberts, will take part in the weekend.
Instead, the focus is on the 2026 recruits many of whom have recently heard from the Huskers.
For Reynolds, that meant a visit from Rhule and director of player personnel Keith Williams.
It just showed to me that I am one of their priorities, that they do want me and that theyre showing me that, Reynolds said of the in-school visit.
It makes you feel good and confident that they like what they see from me.
Most, if not all, of this weekend's 2026 visitors have seen Nebraska's coaches this month.
The list of expected visitors includes Buford (Ga.) quarterback Dayton Raiola, one of the Huskers three current 2026 commits, wholl be expected to contribute as a peer recruiter.
Chicago Mount Caramels Clade Mpouma and Fruitland (Idaho) four-star recruit Kelvin Obot are the top-level offensive line recruits who Nebraska will host.
Port Huron (Mich.) Northern tight end Lincoln Watkins and Carrollton (Ga.) wide receiver Ryan Mosley round out NUs expected visitors on offense.
Watkins, a three-star prospect who NU tight ends coach Marcus Satterfield recently visited, earned an offer this month and has risen up the teams recruiting board.
So has Mosley, a prospect who was identified and visited by wideouts coach Daikiel Shorts Jr.
On defense, Nebraska will welcome two other linebacker targets alongside Reynolds.
Sioux City (Ia.) Bishop Heelans Kasen Thomas and Miami Carol Citys Jordan Campbell will also take part in the junior day.
One of the Midwests top linebacker prospects, Thomas has been a Husker target since the fall, while Campbell has become a recent priority.
A Miami commit who is a top 100 recruit nationally, Campbell isnt the only recruit who the Huskers are working to flip.
Orlando (Fla.) First Academy defensive back Devin Jackson, a Florida commit, will visit Lincoln for the first time alongside his high school teammate, wide receiver/defensive back Danny Odem.
Both players have existing connections with NU defensive backs coach Addison Williams.
Chicago Simeon edge rusher McHale Blade, a four-star prospect, rounds out the weekends expected visitor list.
Past junior day weekends have proved to be highly successful endeavors for Nebraska.
Five of the players who took part in the event one year ago signed with the team this winter: Cortez Mills, Isaiah Mozee, Christian Jones, Kade Pietrzak and Jackson Carpenter.
