Lions hire Broncos' David Shaw as passing game coordinator

David Shaw's stay with the Broncos didn't last long.
A source said Thursday that Detroit has agreed to hire as passing game coordinator the former Stanford head coach who had been named last June a Denver senior personnel executive.
Shaw will work with Lions head coach Dan Campbell and John Morton, who was the Broncos' pass game coordinator the last two seasons before this week being named Detroit's offensive coordinator.
Shaw, 52, was Stanford's head coach coach from 2011-22.
After being in Denver's front office last season, he had wanted to get back into coaching.
He interviewed earlier this month for Chicago's head coaching job, which ended up going to former Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.
Shaw has previous NFL experience as an assistant.
He held positions with Philadelphia, Oakland and Baltimore from 1997 on offense..
