Sanchez: The Evil Empire conceded its crown westward on Tuesday, as Hal Steinbrenner commented in a YES Network interview that most owners including himself find it difficult to make the financial commitments that the Dodgers have been.

Its no surprise to anyone that Hal Steinbrenner has run the team differently than his father George would, but hearing an outright admittance of their inability to keep pace with a team that wants to ignore the final bar of the luxury tax is a shock to the system.

The Yankees may have the budget of a Titan, but theyre not offended to pass on being king of the Titans.

ESPN | Kiley McDaniel ($): McDaniel has his official preseason top prospect rankings out, and the Yankees snagged two mentions in the top 100.

Jasson Dominguez comes in at No.

24 with what McDaniel calls more reasonable levels of buzz as he prepares for his first full experience in the majors with a valuable upside across the board no matter which tool you consider.

Meanwhile, George Lombard Jr.

slides in at No.

60 with advanced feel for the game after a solid adjustment midseason last year propelled him back on track.

Baseball America ($): Baseball America also had some scouting reports to dish out, dropping their top 30 organizational prospects for the Yankees.

Dominguez and Lombard again make the 1-2 combo for the Bombers, and Roderick Arias joins them as the top three before two pitching arms in 2024 draft picks Ben Hess and Bryce Cunningham round out the top five.

Previous high-level names like Spencer Jones and Will Warren took a step down, while a familiar name in Clayton Beeter is just outside the Top 20 to start the year (as is Everson Pereira).

Newly-signed international free agent Mani Cedeno debuted at 19th.

BA has great comments on each name, but if youre just looking for the list, the Somerset Patriots tweeted it out: Jasson Dominguez remains atop Baseball America's updated list of the Yankees' 2025 top-30 prospects pic.twitter.com/w0cPhLGC9d MLB Trade Rumors | Steve Adams: It was expected that Tommy Kahnle wouldnt be coming back to the Yankees after they went so long without making meaningful negotiations, but it became official on Wednesday as news broke that he reached a one-year deal with the Detroit Tigers .

Kahnle has been one of the best set-up men available for the past half-decade, and his health returned in time for two solid seasons in his second major-league stint with the Yankees.

Hell be missed over here and badly needed in Detroit, as the Tigers had to throw multiple bullpen games in the postseason..
